Gurgaon: City residents lost 9.9 years of life expectancy at the average because of their temporary pollution in Delhi lost 9.7 years, according to an annual air quality life index report by the Chicago University Institute of Energy Policy.
According to the report, which was released on September 1, Haryana was ranked fourth in the country because air pollution had reduced the life expectancy of people living in the country around 8.4 years.
If the pollution level still occurs in 2019, the average life expectancy of India will be shortened by 5.9 years, compared to what will happen if the guidelines for the world health organization are fulfilled, the report said.
Of the 22 districts of Haryana, the reduction of life expectancy was lower than the national average only in Panchkula (5.36 years).
After Gurgaon, Palwal has the highest reduction in the state with residents who are missing 9.93 years, while Rohtak and Faridabad stands at 9.66 years, Jhajjar at 9.57 years, Melat at 9.49 years, Sonipat at 9.44 years, REWARI at 8.73 years, Jind at 8.73 years, Panipat at the age of 8.7 years, Charkei Dadri at 8.63 years, raisah at 8.38 years, Bhiwani, KaithaHal, Kaithal, Kaithal in 808, Karnal, Fatehabad, Mahadgarh, Sirsa, 2011 year and YamaBan at 5.99 years.
According to experts, districts in Haryana where reduced life expectancy of less than eight years has less industry and lack of vehicle pollution.
“The districts mentioned in the next section of this report have the maximum rural areas and lack of vehicle pollution, which leads to reduced air pollution levels,” said senior scientist from the state pollution control agency Haryana (HSPCB) to TOI.
