Coimbatore: Sub-inspector of Murugan, attached to the Thondaamuthur police station, was suspended on Friday with regard to fraud in Chennai.
Murugan was medical leave for seven days last month.
Police Chennai arrested him with eight other people to try to peddle a check worth of Rs 9.99 Crore by fraud in the Purasawalkam (PNB) Punjab National Bank branch.
He was put forward in the Puzhal Center Prison.
Based on orders issued by the Deputy Inspector General of Police MS Muthusamy, the department’s action began against Murugan.
