Bengaluru: Two bulk transit agents, which are often in a jumber, finally unite at least in one location.
The source said Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) and Krida, which carried out the Bengaluru City suburban train project had reached a shared foundation for better coordination in Benniganahalli near Kr Puram.
BMRCL has decided to allow the Suburban K-Ride Rail corridor under the Metro Namma section near Benniganahalli Flyover.
Amit Garg, the K-Ride Managing Director said: “Heelalige-Yelahanka-Rajanukunte Suburban Rail Corridor (Kanaka Line) will run under the Kr Puram International Airport – Kempegowda Namma (Blue Line) in Benniganahalli.
Both run parallel for about 500 meters away .
This will save at a minimum RS 150 Crore in terms of land acquisition.
Both agents work in coordination of the benefit of a larger community “.
Public Relations BMRCL BL Yashwanth Chavan said: “The suburban rail will run under Namma Metro Viaduct for 500m adjacent to Benniganahalli flyover.
While Kr Puram-Kia Metro Airport Corridor Level Rail level will be around 18-20m on the ground, Rail Suburban will About 12m above the ground.
“He said BMRCR agreed with K-Ride to build a railroad under the Corridor Metro Namma in Benniganahalli with shared conditions.
“But there will be no double-decker structure because each will be independent,” Chavan said.
Previously, K-Ride had proposed to make a double-decker line in Benniganahalli for a stretch of 3 km.
According to the K-Ride proposal, Benniganahalli Stretch alone is expected to save the government no less than RS 300 Crore in the cost of land acquisition because the Metro and Land pillars can be used to build a suburban rail corridor.
TOI has brought an article titled ‘Double-decker plans are debated to reduce the cost of acquisition for Bengaluru Suburban Rail’ on June 20, 2021.
However, the BMRCL source said the integration of two different systems would be complicated because the pillar must be redesigned to accommodate the heavy load of these two systems .
The source said three metro lines – byappanahalli-whitefield, Outer Ring Road-Kia and Depot Entry Line – will pass the junction of the tin factory near Benniganahalli.
BMRCL previously planned to build a metro-cum-road flyover between Mahadevapura and Ramamurthy Nagar.
However, then canceled.
