Sudan prepares to ‘civil disobedience’ anti coup

Khartoum: Pro-democracy protesters prepared Saturday to launch a two-day civilian detectation campaign against the Sudanese military coup, because Arabic mediators were expected in Khartoum to try to relieve the crisis.
The call was pioneered by the Sudan Professional Association – Workers’ union umbrella who played a role in protests 2018-2019 against the president who was now overthrown Omar al-Bashir.
The spa urged the demonstrators to establish a barricade from Saturday night and to hold a two-day and peaceful civil disobedience campaign against October military power.
“Sendanese have rejected the military coup,” said Spa on Twitter, swearing “no negotiations, no partnership, no legitimacy”.
“We will start with the main road barricades to prepare mass civilian dissatisfaction on Sunday and Monday,” he said, urging protesters to avoid confrontation with security forces.
Calls have been circulated through text messages because most internet services have dropped since October 25, the day of the military coup.
That day, General Sudan over Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan dissolved the government and the powerful military sovereign council.
Burhan also declared an emergency and held back Sudan’s civilian leadership, including Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok and members of his government.
Hamdok was then placed under the arrest of an effective and military house since Thursday released four civil members of his government.
But other key figures persist.
The military takeover triggered international punishment choir and cutting punishment assistance, with world power demanding fast returns to civil rules.
On Friday, the UN Human Rights Council joined the global criticism of the coup, with his head Michelle Bachelet described the situation in Sudan as “very disturbing”.
Sudan since August 2019 was led by the Civil Military Ruler Board to direct the transition to full civilian government.
Last month’s coup had triggered national protests filled with harsh acts who beat at least 14 demonstrators killed and around 300 injured, according to the Independent Central Committee of the Sudanese doctors.
Some mediation efforts for political settlement between Sudanese military and civilian leaders have since been ongoing, without a breakthrough sign.
On Saturday, the Arab League said the high level of Pan-Arab blocks would arrive in other offers.
“The delegation will meet with various political leaders of Sudan …
with the aim of supporting efforts to move through the current political crisis,” the organization said.
Representatives from the Israeli government have also tried to resolve the crisis, according to Israeli media reports.
Sudan agreed last year to normalize bonds with the Jewish state.
