Khartoum: Head of Armed Forces Sudanese defends the seizure of military power, said he had toppled the government to avoid civil war, while the protesters returned to the streets on Tuesday to show the takeover after the day of the clash.
The military takeover on Monday stopped Sudan’s transition to democracy, two years after the old round of Autocrat Omar al-Bashir was dropped.
Speaking at his first press conference since he announced the takeover, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan said the army had no choice but beyond politicians who incited armed forces.
“The danger we witnessed last week could lead the country into a civil war,” he said, a real reference to demonstrations against the prospect of the coup.
PM Abdalla Hamdok, who was arrested on Monday with his cabinet, had not been harmed and taken to Burhan’s own house, said General.
