Lucknow: Highlighting a massive increase in sugar cane cultivation in Purvanchal, the sugar cane department said that in the past four years, the area under sugar cane cultivation rose 1.34 lakh hectares.
Until 2017, said government spokesman, the area under the planting of sugar cane in Purvanchal was 4.39 lakh hectares who rose to the hectare of 5.73 lakh.
Data issued by the department shows that farmers’ income also rose by Rs 22,000 per hectare during this period, while the total income of farmers in Purvanchal increased by Rs 1,290 Crore.
The spokesman said that the increase in production was the result of the ‘farmer-friendly scheme’ of the upper government.
“The establishment of a new sugar factory, the closed reopening and their operations during the Coronavirus Pandemi novel, payment of timely tugar time to farmers and campaigns to connect farmers with technology has proven effective in this matter,” he said.

The average sugar cane results in Purvanchal have increased from 652.72 quintals per hectare to 722 quintals per hectare for the past four years.

Co-cropping cultivation has been carried out on four hectares, while drip irrigation plants are installed at 4,042 hectares.
