New Delhi: The economic wing of Delhi police on Tuesday arrested five members of the prison staff, including two supervisors, in connection with the case of extortion related to Conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, officials said.
According to police, five prison officials – two supervisors, two deputy supervisors and one assistant supervisor – have been arrested.
Sunil Kumar and Surinder Chandra Bora post as supervisors Jail Rohini, Mahendra Prasad and Lakshmi Dutt are Superintendents and Prakash Chand representatives as assistant inspectors actively involved in dealing with Sukesh Chandrasek accused.
With the latest arrest, 19 people have so far been arrested in connection with this case.
The case was registered on August 7 after Aditi Singh, the wife of former Rannaxy promoter, Shivinder Singh, claimed that she received a call in June last year from a man who posed as a senior official of the Ministry of Law which offered to help him.
Guarantee for her husband, who was in prison at that time, in exchange for money.
Chandrasekhar made a call to Aditi Singh and he was arrested in August.
At the time of the incident, Chandrasekhar was submitted in Rohini Jail and running a squeeze racket from behind bars.
Police Delhi has submitted a Chargesheet before the city court in connection with the case of 14 people, including actor Leena Maria Paul and her husband and Chandrashekhar.
