New Delhi: Talented young people Washington Sundar was on Monday which was ruled out from the second phase of the IPL starting in the UAE on September 19 when his finger injury he suffered in England was not fully cured and he could not erase a fitness test at NCA.
Washington, who played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore on the popular T20, has traveled to England with Indian troops but returned to the country after hurting his finger while playing in a County game that functions as a practice game for visitors.
The 21-year-old, who was a useful off-spinner and batsman, had appeared for the county team and was beaten by India Pacer Mohammed Siraj, forced all-round out of the tour.
“The Royal Challengers Bangalore All-rounder Sundar Sundar has been ruled out of the remaining Vivo IPL 2021 because of the upcoming finger injury,” said the IPL franchise in a statement.
Bengal Cricketer Akash Deep, which is a clean bowler with a franchise, has been named a substitute for the rest of the IPL.
The source told PTI that Washington appeared in a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru a few days ago but could not explain it.
The Twenty20 world is scheduled to start immediately after the IPL conclusion and still have to be seen if Washington is picked in the Indian squad without playing a single IPL game.
