Noida: A week after several criminals chasing lawyers, their wives and two children and threw liquor bottles in their Audi, the police had not traced the car accused or made an arrest.
On New Year’s Eve, Shonak Sharma, a resident of sector 51, came out with his wife and children, aged 4 and 9, for dinner when a Verna coming from the wrong side came very close to his parents’ car.
A few moments after Sharma objected to driving a rash, the defendant had chased him a white verna, threw a bottle of liquor to the Audi.
One of the bottles has destroyed the Sharma car windshield.
“The lawyer cannot record the car number.
We scan the nearest CCTV recording area to identify the car.
We have seen a glimpse of the car in several videos but the amount is not clear in it.
Some teams work to identify cars and catch criminals,” said Anjani Kumar Singh, office Police Sho of Sector 49.
Sharma expressed concern that the defendant could not be arrested even after a week.
“They haven’t even identified a car until now.
When will they arrest the defendant? No one from the police station that showed me the CCTV clip also did not come to check my car.
For the first 3-4 days, I didn’t get a windshield Repaired, but when no one appeared, I got a new rear glass, “he added.
Sharma said his children were still afraid to come out.
“My children experienced trauma after the incident.
The next day, I have sent my children and my wife to my in-laws’ house so they can forget the episode.
They are back now, but still afraid to get out of the house,” he said.
The Audi Sharma was chased between 9:15 pm and 9.45pm, when the police claimed to have made adequate security settings for New Year’s Eve.
Resources in the police said at least 10 cameras had been placed by each police station for a better police.
Traffic police, they added, have their own camera set.
However, the stretch where the Audi was pursued did not have.
Residents highlight a few gaps in the system.
“Noida is considered a hi-tech city, but even at that time, the police failed to track the car or accused the defendant after a week.
Every time, the project worth some crores was announced, but nothing was done on the ground.
Even the Komisianca system was taken to Curb Street Crime.
High claims about smart policers are made, but nothing is done so far, “said Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary General of Sector 51 Rwa.
He said it was the cause of concern that no camera was stretched between sectors 51 and the ISKCON temple, where the defendant gave up pursuit.
“Chasing a car and threw seven to eight bottles of liquor to him when the police claimed to have made adequate security arrangements was embarrassing.
We want administration, government and police to install more cameras and make the general public feel safer,” he added.
Last year in January, the Chairman of the Minister of Yogi Adityanath has inaugurated the “Safe City” project, where the district should get 1,600 cameras – 250 of them in the first phase – to monitor public spaces.
