Sunil Kumar Bansal is responsible for New Odisha Top COP

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Wednesday refers to 1987-batch of IPS officers Sunil Kumar Bansal as the new director of the police.
Bansal, which left Odisha in central deputation in 1994, currently serves as a special director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in Delhi.
DGP Abhay who came out scheduled to retire on December 31, in accordance with the government notice released last month.
Government sources said the Bansal would take over from Abhay on December 31 or January 1, 2022.
“At the recommendation of the UNI Public Service Commission (UPSC) and for the benefit of public services, Sunil Kumar Bansal was appointed as DGP (head) of the police) for a period of time Two years with the effect of joining in the post, “said the notice of the State House Department.
The source said the UPSC had chosen the names of Bansal, Pradeep Kapur (Batch 1986) and Manoj Chhabra (Batch 1988) to post up.
Abhay (Batch 1986) was named as a DGP on November 20, 2019 and assumed the cost on December 9 that year.
Even though he was set to retire in June this year, the government extended its services to six more months to meet the Supreme Court’s direction of the minimum ten-year mastery of DGP.
Abhay is the first DGP Odisha, which issued his assignment for two full years, as stipulated by the APEX court.
Bansal, which has served as Mayurbuhkanj SP from May 15, 1992 to January 22, 1994 and SP vigilance in Sambalpur from January 30, 1994 to September 26, 1994, continued with Central Deputation in October 1994.
This is the first time he will be on duty under the BJD administration .
With the election of Panchayat, almost two months, Bansal said it would be a big challenge for him because he would return to the state after almost 27 years.
“It will be a challenging situation for me.
But I am happy to return and will issue my assignment with professionalism and honesty,” said Bansal.
Bansal, who has been a key officer in IB for several years, said he would continue with a successful road map set by his predecessors at the Odisha police.
“I will work hard to match the high standards set by them.
After taking over, I will set my goal,” Bansal said.
