Jaipur: Surveillance for the Delta + Covid variant has been intensified throughout the state after a woman in Bikaner is tested positive for a variant.
The health team collected samples for genome sequencing of those who had been diagnosed with Covid in various parts of the country.
From Dausa, the sample was taken from a patient who was hospitalized and sent to Jaipur for the genome sequencing.
“Two people who were positively tested for Covid and someone’s sample had been sent to Jaipur for the genome sequencing.
The sample was collected on Saturday and the report was awaited,” said Dr.
Cl Meena, the main medical officer, Dausa.
Senior health authorities in Jaipur said only one Delta + variant was detected in a state so far.
“There are no other people infected with the Delta + variant, but supervision has been intensified,” said a senior health department official.
In Bikaner, the health authority continued to camp at Bengla Nagar for the third day in a row.
“We continued our door-to-door survey in the area and collected samples for Covid tests,” said Dr.
Bl Meena, responsible for Covid, Bikaner.
Because the Delta + variant has been declared a variant of concern (VOC) and has increased transmission, health authorities collect samples from various parts of the country and send samples to SMS Medical College and also to the laboratory of the laboratory consortium for the overall sequencing genome.
The state government has developed the genome sequencing facility at SMS Hospital.
Official claims that 90% of the samples in the sequencing of the SMS Hospital genome have tested the positive Delta variant.
