Ayurvedic drug store owner arrested on Tuesday in Khallikote, Ganjam, to supply opium to drug sellers, Rajanikant Patnik.
On Friday, more than 8 kg of gold and 75 lakh RS cash confiscated from Patnik’s house in Khojapalli.
Patnik has an accumulation of property worth 32 crore, the police said.
The drug store owner was identified as the Kabimanyu Moharana.
“Even though Moharanana has a license for the Opium business, we find that it has violated the terms and conditions of the license and supply it to the Patnaik for illegal business,” said Inspector in charge, Khallikote, Jagannath Mallick.
Moharana’s involvement in illegal drug trafficking was revealed during Patnaik’s interrogation.
The two-day police warming ended on Monday.
“We got some vital instructions on the trade of illegal marijuana in six districts,” said a police officer.
If necessary, the police will pray to the court for the detention of Patnaik and Moharana once again, he said.
“We have formed three teams to investigate business links, procuration, and supply points from contraband goods,” SP (Ganjam) Brijesh Rai.
