NAGPUR: The Supreme Court (SC) on June 22 rejected the bail plea of Kamble double murder accused Ankit Shahu.
He was arrested in February 2018 for his alleged role in the murder of journalist Ravikant Kamble’s mother Usha (54) and his one-and-half-year old daughter Rashi, before throwing their bodies in the nullah.
The apex court also asked the trial court to conclude the trial by December.
Earlier, counsel for the state Sachin Patil had argued that only 12 witnesses were yet to be examined and the prosecution would try to conclude the trial by the end of this year.
The SC said that Shahu can apply for bail before the high court in case the trial is not completed this year.
Senior counsel Rajendra Daga, advocates Sameer Sonawane and Sachin Pujari represented Kamble during the hearing.
