Surat climbs to High among Clever cities

Surat: Diamond City expedited execution and direction of several projects under the Smart Cities Mission to catapult itself into the top place among leading 20 smart cities within the nation.
Before the town has been rated fourth in the standing announced by the union ministry of housing and urban affairs.
“We had been set fourth, although Ahmedabad was at sixth place among a total of 100 cities recognized for the standing.
The positions are revised following tracking general performances such as implementation, management, fiscal facets on a normal basis,” that a Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) officer told TOI.
Currently 65 jobs worth Rs 1,573 were finished while 15 projects worth Rs 1,350 are below implementation.
For these jobs SMC and Surat Smart City Development Ltd get 50 percent grant in the Centre and 25% from country.
The remaining 25 percent is utilized by its own capital.
