SURAT: To not be caught off guard for example from the next wave of the outbreak, New Civil Hospital (NCH) has started creating a paediatric treatment module for Covid-19 to become prepared for any eventuality. It’s very likely to be prepared by next week along with physicians of different branches that take part with Covid-19 hospital responsibilities will be trained so. While physicians aren’t certain if, or when at all the next wave can come, the trainings have been done keeping in focus the government recommendations on kids which supposes that infection rate could be greater among children from the next wave. “Our physicians are still preparing a Covid therapy module for kids. Depending on the module we’ll train our physicians for paediatric patients,” explained Dr Ragini Verma, superintendent, NCH, including that it’s being done according to administration’s directives to remain ready for another tide. Together with the treatment module NCH police have put a 100-bed paediatric ward at Covid-19 hospital in Kidney Hospital construction. A group of physicians also did a shortage evaluation of infrastructure and equipment needed for the new ward. “We’ve ventilators for paediatric patients within our current wards, but may require more for your new ward. Hence, we’ve filed the requirements ahead of time,” Dr Verma additional. With the slow decline in amount of active individuals, NCH is final wards in various buildings around its campus. “But we’re not eliminating some of the gear out of it. We’ll keep the setup so we could begin using it in the event of a crisis,” said an official.
