Patna: Mayor of Muzaffarpur Suresh Kumar was expelled from his post on Saturday after he lost the movement without the trust that some members of the Environmental Council moved against it.
They leveled allegations of corruption, inability and concessions on his side in carrying out development work.
Commissioner of Muzaffarpur City Vivek Ranjan Maitrey said, “Only 39 of 48 members of the Council of the Environment took part in the voting.
The movement was not confident to receive support from 31 board members while eight votes was thrown there.” Despite two members of the Board – Geta Devi (number 32) and Javed Ansari (number 6) – Present, they did not take part in voting and leave the venue.
The mayor was not on that occasion.
Proceedings of the non-confidence movement were carried out under the leadership of Deputy Mayor of Manmardan Shukla.
Commissioner of the City of Vivek Ranjan Maitrey monitored the trial, which began at around 11 in the morning at the Amrapali Auditorium at the Club Road in the city.
Maitrey then told the media that he would send a report to the State Election Commission on the day.
“The new date of the election of the new mayor will be announced by the Commission,” he told this newspaper.
Authoritative sources said the new mayor must be selected within 30 days of the position that falls empty.
The day before, Deputy Mayor of Shukla somehow managed to defend his chair.
“According to the provisions, the Deputy Mayor will operate as mayor until the removal of the new mayor,” said the senior administrative district official.
Among the 40 members of the Environmental Council took a movement not confident of the Deputy Mayor, 11 took part in the voting.
While eight votes opposed the non-confidence movement, two in their support.
One vote is calculated invalid.
However, at all members of the Council of Environment, Abstain from the process.
