A 13-year-old nomadic girl, who was sexually attacked by a cousin who said she would marry her only to step down later, conveying a premature baby girl at the Haveri District Hospital on Wednesday.
The source said the defendant had been identified as prakash shombard, 25.
The attack took place at his home in the Shivamogga district.
The girl continued to live with the boy’s family even after the attack and returned to her home in the Haveri district a few months ago.
When Survivor’s father refused to complaint sexual violence against Prakash, Angganwadi and Health Officers told the Sakhi One Stop Center, a government institution that admitted the girl to the district hospital on Tuesday.
He delivered the baby the next day.
Following complaints by Sharavva Gudageri, a Sakhi member, Hanagal police registered a case under the Pocso law against Prakash and his mother Ratnamma shombard.

Subinsapping of the Hanagal Police Station Srishail Pattanashetty said the female and child welfare department brought this case to their notification.
