Sushil Kumar, gangster Jathedi may soon bury the hatchet

NEW DELHI: Kala Jathedi, the Dubai-based most wanted gangster, and wrestler Sushil Kumar may soon reach a compromise and set aside their differences, several insiders in both the factions have confirmed to TOI.
While talks have been on between the two through an intermediary for about a week now, a breakthrough has not been reached due to the “high price” quoted by Jathedi for making peace, the source said.
Kumar was shifted to Tihar Jail from Mandoli Jail on Friday after his judicial custody got extended till July 9.
The identity of the mediator has not been disclosed, but it is suspected that the person is lodged in Tihar Jail.
It is learnt that Jathedi has given a set of terms and conditions after multiple apologies by the wrestler and wants Kumar to give away a large chunk of the business avenues managed by him, like toll plaza collection, etc.
It seems the factions are trying to reach a balanced revenue-sharing model for future operations.
Jathedi and Kumar turned arch rivals after a wrestler named Sagar Dhankad was thrashed to death and his two friends, Sonu Mahaal and Amit, were brutally thrashed at Chhatrasal Stadium on the night of May 4.
Mahaal, who is Jathedi’s nephew, had been nurturing a grudge against Kumar and closest aide, Ajay, since March.
The two factions had clashed two month ago over a girl from Ukraine.
Mahaal had celebrated the girl’s birthday at a flat in Model Town during which Ajay, who was arrested along with Kumar last month in Dhankad’s murder case, had allegedly misbehaved with her and also tried to click a selfie with her.
This had outraged Mahaal.
He and Dhankad then got into a verbal spat with Ajay and Kumar.
Taking advantage of the situation, Kumar asked Mahaal and Sagar to vacate the flat.
This angered Jathedi because he had helped Kumar usurp the disputed flat and wanted a share.
Jathedi was also outraged with Kumar using the henchmen of his arch rival, Neeraj Bawana, in the incident.
When Kumar went underground after being booked for Dhankad’s murder and cops launching a manhunt for him, he was dealt a double whammy with Jathedi’s shooters also hunting for him.
This development was first reported by TOI on the day of Kumar’s arrest.
