NEW DELHI: Two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar spent his birthday at a lockup on Wednesday after being remanded to seven days police officers in relation to the murder of a wrestler in the Chhatrasal Stadium here. Authorities said he stayed silent through the afternoon. Kumar together with his partner Ajay were detained on Sunday from outside Delhi’sOn Wednesday afternoon, authorities said four partners of Kumar, that had been included with the alleged real estate dispute situation that resulted in the departure of their 23-year-old wrestler Sagar, were detained by the Rohini district authorities and handed over to the crime division. A couple of Sagar’s buddies were hurt in the brawl in the arena that happened on the night of May 4-5 above a dispute regarding the house in Delhi’s Model Town region. The accused had been identified as Bhupender (38), Mohit (22), Gulab (24), inhabitants of Haryana’s Jhajjar district along with Manjeet (29), also a native of Rohtak district, they said. They’re active members of their Kala Asauda and Neeraj Bawana gangs and have been detained out of Delhi’s Kanjhawala place on Tuesday night. Kumar and his partner Ajay were detained on Sunday from outside Delhi’s Mundka place by a group of Delhi Police’s unique mobile and the situation was subsequently moved into the crime division that’s presently probing to it. Authorities, meanwhile, will also be probing if gangster Kala Jathedi was immediately related to the episode that unfolded in the Arena. The investigating group is to recoup the mobile phone of Kumar and so are working to monitor the apparatus, authorities said, including fingerprints gathered from the place were sent for additional examination. Meanwhile, the Ashok Dhankad, dad of the murdered wrestler has asked the authorities to take the awards granted to Kumar. “We need fair probe at the event and rigorous punishment ought to be awarded to him to the offence. No Guru should try so with his disciple. The authorities must take the awards that were awarded to himpersonally,” he explained. Dhankad stated his son’s wrestling career began from Pratap School at Kharkhoda and because 2013, he had been practising at Chhatrasal Stadium. He’s played championship in Finland along with Asian Championship at Taiwan. “Sagar was a former junior national champion and wished to visit Georgia for training as he said that there’s intense competition in senior group and he had to prepare herself. However, because of Covid, he couldn’t move there. He had 10 to 12 awards comprising four to five championships,” Dhankad stated.
