Silchar: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee who works President Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha on Tuesday said Sushmita Dev’s joined TMC would not endanger the Congress in Assam and Valley Barak in particular.
“Congress does not depend on certain leaders.
Many people come and leave, but the congress remains the same.
People will not forgive Dev because they left Congress, a heritage who also enriched him,” Purkayastha, a MLA from Karimganj, said the day after the former MP Switch to the Banerjee Mamata party.
AIUD Secretary General, Aminul Islam, said Dev was forced to leave Congress because he was ruled out in the party to stand in CAA.
“Dev support for Caa embarrassing the leadership of the Congress.
It made him leave a party for his political fortune.
The choice to join BJP was prevented by local leaders of the Safron Party.
So he found TMC as the last Savior,” Islam, MLA from Dhing.
“However, the base of his support outside Barracks Valley was not significant.
He stopped partying would not make a difference to Congress in Assam,” he added.
