Letter: The investigation has been ordered in the mysterious death of a 32-year-old worker who died after returning home from the Chowk Bazar police station on Wednesday.
Police Commissioner Ajay Tomar has commanded additional police commissioners, P L L, to find out the reasons behind Irshad Shaikh’s death.
The population of Fulwadi, Shaikh was declared dead at the Lokhat Hospital on Wednesday night.
His family accused that they took home Sheikh in critical condition and he might have died because of police torture in detention.
The police have arrested Shaikh on Tuesday night after he looked roaming in a suspicious way.
However, Kin claimed that the police called Shaikh, who was resting at his home on Tuesday, to click on a photo at the police station.
The deceased was arrested under the Gujarat 122 police law because it moved in a suspicious way without a legitimate reason.
“He was stored in the locking of the police station and in the morning of the police to produce it in court.
However, Sheikh suffered a match and fainting in locking around 11am,” said a police officer at the Chowk Bazar police station, added that he also suffered a head injury .
All incidents were recorded on CCTV cameras from locking and police station, the police claimed.
Shaikh was taken to the smimer hospital at 108 ambulances where he was given first aid due to his head injury after he was taken back to the police station and was taken to court for guarantees.
“He was after it was brought back to the police station to complete the guarantee formality,” police said.
After his release, Shaikh came home and his health deteriorated at night.
“My husband received a call from the automatic rickshaw driver who worked for the police on Tuesday.
He left the house told him that he had been called to click on a photo and would be back soon, but no,” said the wife of Parveen to the media.
“The same driver brings Shaikh’s house unconsciously in a pedicab at night.
My husband died of torture by the police,” he thought.
“The man died after being released with a guarantee.
I have ordered additional CP to conduct an investigation into this matter,” Tomar told Toi.
