Midnapore: The opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari has been removed as Chair of Vidyasagar Central Counterative Bank, Midnapore, almost three months after he had to empty the Chairperson at the Cooperative Bank Contai.
Over the years, Adhikari has led three strong cooperative banks, including Kanthi’s cooperative and rural agricultural development bank.
At the council meeting on Monday, Vidyasagar Central Cooperative Bank replaced Adhikari by appointing Pradip Patra as chairman through round resolution.
On September 6, six members of the Board of Directors had written to the Secretary of the Cooperative Bank who were seeking Adhikari’s transfer.
Adhikari did not appear for the council meeting scheduled for September 16, after Deputy Chairperson of Bank Sandip Ghosh inaugurated as chairman.
The removal process reached its peak after Patra, a midnapore Trinamool Secretary General, made by the chair of Monday.
Vidyasagar Central Cooperative Bank, with 39 branches and 13 ATMs spread in Midnapore, Kolkata, Howrat and Hooghly, have more than 10 lakh customers.
