Kolkata: Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari on Monday did not appear in front of West Bengal Cid in connection with the probe into his bodyguard death, stating that he was busy, said an officer.
Adhikari, Nandigram MLA BJP, was called by Cid to his headquarters at Bhabani Bhawan in connection with the case of the death of the Chakraborty Subhobrata Bodyguard.
“He sent us around 9:30 a.m., mentioning some political involvement because he could not come and meet our officers,” said a cid officer.
CID held a meeting after receiving Adhikari’s letter to wear the possibility of the next step into the investigation, including whether another call would be sent to him, said a source on the agency.
Adhikari is not immediately available for comments.
A cid team has visited Kanthi Residence with respect to the probe.
Chakraborty allegedly shot himself with his service revolver in the security camp outside the residence of Kanthi Adhikari in October 2018, according to the police.
Cid so far questioned more than 15 people, including 11 police officers.
Chakraborty, the state-armed police personnel, was part of the Adhikari security team because he became a member of parliament.
He continued on the team after Adhikari was made a minister in the government of Mamata Banerjee.
