Pune: The Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) on Monday held a protest in Kolhapur, around 230 kilometers from here, seeking help, including loan neglect, for farmers who were hit by a recent flood in several parts of Maharashtra.
SSS leader Raju Shetti said the assistance provided by the state government was little and demanded that agricultural loans be released together with children’s school costs like that.
“In 2019, when the flood had hit the district, the government had released agricultural loans from those whose plants were destroyed.
We expect the same decision from the government today,” Shetti said, adding that farmers had suffered because of Covid- 19 outbreaks and decreases The economy produced.
“The government must provide Rs 50,000 as promised by one and a half years back to farmers who pay loans on time.
We also want school fees from students to come from flooded households to be released,” he added.
The state government of “DILLY-DALLYING” in announcing financial assistance for flood-hit farmers, Shetti said.
