Hyderabad: In great achievement, Hyderabad pocketed the title ‘Best Mandiri City’ in the population category above 40 lakh.
This was announced in the list of ‘Swachh Survekshan 2021’ award released by the Ministry of Housing and Urban (Mohua).
Not only the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), seven other urban local agencies (ULBS) in Telangana, pocketed a prestigious Swachh Swachh award.
The award is the national recognition of city efforts at various cleanliness parameters.
While GHMC maintains a free defecation certification (ODF ++), officials doubled their efforts to win the position in the Category ‘City support the best Mandiri today.
This award is mainly given to the transformation of the city urban landscape.
GHMC also pocketed the place as one of the ‘trash free’.
It was rated three star, under ‘star rating protocol from free cities’.
143 cities have been certified as a threeestar.
“This rating is given based on the parameters ‘solid waste management’,” said an GHMC official.
The official said, “Feedback by city residents, photography proof and data on GHMC efforts around ‘solid waste management’ is the main reason for getting rank.” Telangana is also ranked second among countries under ‘Safaimitra Surkasha’.
Launched by Mohua, this category aims to recognize countries that try to eradicate human deaths from dangerous sewers and septic tanks.
KOSGI, ULB in the Narayanpet district, won awards under the ‘innovation and best practice practices’.
