Swachh Survey: Gurgaon jumps 38 places, leading in Haryana

Gurgaon: Improving its performance, the city shouted up to 24th in Swachh Survekshan 2021 in the 1 lakh category of up to 10 Lakh populations.
Last year, Gurgaon was ranked 62nd.
This time, the city has also received a three star rating in the ‘City Free City’ ‘category.
Printing 4.201.2 points, Gurgaon was placed in number 1 among Haryana cities in the 1 lakh category of up to 10 Lakh populations.
This was followed by Rohtak (49th) and Karnal on (86).
In the overall category, Gurgaon is ranked 44th.
Cities have been ranked based on three broad parameters – the progress of the level of service, sound and citizen certification.
The progress of the service level, which includes separate waste collection, processing and sustainable disposal and sanitation, holds a weight of 40%.
Gurgaon scored 1.690.7 from a maximum of 2,400 marks in this parameter.
The voice of the residents, which took into account feedback, involvement in the application and innovation of Swachhtha, accommodating 30%.
The city scored 1,410 out of a total of 1,800 marks.
The third parameters where cities are ranked are certification, which also accommodates 30% discount.
Below, Gurgaon received a three-star rating and 600 points from a maximum score of 1,100 in the ‘Trash Free City’ category.
In addition, Gurgaon scored 500 of 700 points in the ‘free defecation’ category.
“Gurgaon increases Swachh Surevekshan’s rating and is awarded because it becomes a garbage-free city and the Safai Mitra’s challenge has occurred only because of the community cooperation.
Citizens must also ensure that they separate their waste and make wet waste at home.
They must follow the principle of reducing, using Back, and recycling while handling their waste, “Mukesh Kumar Ahuja, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon.
Activists and residents said the city enhanced rating was in sharp contrast to the situation in the field.
“We failed sadly on the separation of sources, processing waste and disposal.
This rating is surprising.
In addition, it is not contrary to gurgaon as a garbage-free city when there are around 35 yards open dumping in the city and landfill site?” Questioning Vaishali Rana Chandra, one City-based environment activist.
“We need to work on garbage separation, collection and processing to truly reach the rank we have on paper,” said Udaybir Yadav, President of Sector 10a Rwa.
