Guwahati: Field exercises for the census of the Rawa Eastern Rawa who are vulnerable to begin in Kaziranga National Park (KNPTR) on Tuesday for the first time since 2018 after three destructive floods.
Director Park P Sivakumar said the census this year had a destructive flood interest that brought in a disaster on the Unescoworld legacy site in Monsoon in the last three years.
The last census of this sub-species was carried out in the National Park in 2018.
After the number of samples, the results would be stated on Wednesday.
Exercise began on Monday with a briefing.
“According to the last estimation, we have 907 deer and then there are three big floods in Kaziranga.
We want to check whether the East Rawa Deer population has risen or down,” Sivakumar told Ti on Tuesday.
He said during the last estimation, the census was carried out in the core area of Kaziranga National Park – Division of East Assam Wildlife.
But this year, he said, the survey was being carried out on a much larger scale in a side by side too.
“This time, we are conducting a census in East Assam, Biswanath and Wildlife Nagaon division from the Knpr.
Sub-species have spread to a side by side and thus, the census will provide an idea of how all landscapes are used by it,” he said.
