NEW DELHI: Former journalist Swapan Dasgupta, who’d resigned in Rajya Sabha and unsuccessfully contested the new West Bengal assembly elections to a BJP ticket, which was renominated to the Upper House of Parliament from the authorities.
Noted lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani was nominated to Rajya Sabha from the cental authorities.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-clause (a) of clause (1) of article 80 of the Constitution of India, read with clause (3) of the guide, the President will be very happy to renominate Shri Swapan Dasgupta into the Council of States to fulfill the chair that has fallen vacant as a result of his resignation because of his reminder duration viz – 24-04-2022,” based on a house ministry telling.
In another telling, the home ministry said Jethmalani was nominated to Rajya Sabha to meet with the chair which has fallen vacant on account of the passing of Raghunath Mohapatra to the reminder that his (Mohapatra’s) expression i.e until 13-07-2024.
The President nominates famed personalities into the Upper House to the Recommendations of the authorities.
The family members have been drawn from areas like science, literature and sports, art and social support.
