Ghaziabad: The owner of a private swimming pool in Loni has been arrested for allegedly allowing people to use it during the lockdown, the police said on Saturday.
The matter came to light when an unknown person in the neighbourhood recorded the activities inside the pool and posted a video, which went viral.
A team immediately raided the area on Friday following which Sagar Dhama was arrested, an officer said.
“On Friday evening, we got a tip-off that a private swimming pool in Loni’s Rahul Garden was operating in violation of Covid protocols.
We raided the pool and found that more than two people had gathered at the spot to take a dip,” said Circle Officer (Loni) Atul Sonkar.
He added that efforts are on to identify other accused in the case.
According to police, the pool was operational for the last few days and there was an instruction from the owner to allow only known members.
“They used an alternate entry route and since it was covered from all sides, it was difficult to detect what was going inside,” said Sonkar.
The police have sealed the pool.
