Swiss countries, Iceland, and seven EU have approved the Covishield, AstraZeneca vaccine produced by the Indian Serum Institute, the day after India threatened to place European visitors under the compulsory quarantine.
Government sources say Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Estonia and Spain have confirmed that they will receive covishield to enter the trip.
Estonia has confirmed that it will recognize all vaccines authorized by the Government of India – Covishield and Covaxin – for travel.
Sources say India will extend the same agreement as citizens of these countries.
Meanwhile, SII has submitted a request to the European Medical Agency for approval for “Green Pass” with company officials saying that they expect permission in a month.
Covaxin has not been cleaned by WHO and expected EMA will be fine after the agreement is given.
