‘Symptoms like Covid? Can only a seasonal virus’

Kolkata: Mild but continuous fever, coughing and bodyache – Thousands of collarments show symptoms that are very similar to Covid, causing fear and make them rush to the doctor.
But most do not need to panic: they suffer from other viral attacks, consistent with seasonal change infections, not covid.
And while the opinion of the doctor is divided into whether someone must be in a hurry to be tested, initial testing might be the wisest thing to do, especially if someone has co-morbidity.
Even if Covid, a mild infection will be the norm from now on, feel King Dhar, director of Pulmonology, CMRI Hospital.
“It will be like an ordinary influenza, which can be treated without covid medicine, except for severe symptoms, which will rarely occur now.
So, we have tested patients for viruses other than Covid, and have found many who suffer from the Syncytial Respiratory (RSV) virus, influenza a and Rhinovirus.
This is a normal seasonal virus, “he explained, added that this would now be more common than Covid.
Arindam Biswas, an internal drug consultant, agreed, but felt that the Covid test had to be done, because Post-Puja Spurt in the capture transmission.
“A fever and cold battle is more likely to be a seasonal virus now, but Covid tests are still recommended.
This will help identify patients and ensure that he remains in isolation.
Another, we will see a sharp increase in the number immediately,” said Biswas.
Covid drugs, he added, is not needed unless the patient experiences a decrease in oxygen saturation.
“Those without co-morbidity should not worry about mild symptoms.
Treatment will now be symptomatic.
But if you have exposed yourself to a crowd of puja, tested if you experience a fever and cold,” his advice.
Paracetamol, vitamins and fluids must be sufficient for those who have mild symptoms, Dhar said.
“Isolation is needed unless you have been tested negatively, because infected people can continue the virus to someone with co-morbidities, which can be changed by Covid,” he felt.
There has been a sharp Spurt in the case of influenza because of temperature fluctuations triggered by the period of rain and bright disjointed during the past week, said Sauren Panja, intensivist, RN Tagore International Institute of Cardiac.
“Influenza, para-influenza and adenovirus are active now because of seasonal changes.
Symptoms are harmless: Mild fever, cough and bodyache, but because they overlap with covid, patients often rush to doctors and hospitals.
In most cases, RT-PCR tests Putting aside Covid, “Panja said.
He added that the Syncytial Respiratory (RSV) virus, has also been striking children.
This causes infections in the lungs and respiratory pressure, which leads to Covid’s fear.
