Mumbai: Chhatrapati International Airport Shivaji Maharaj Kota (CSMIA) on Monday announced the reopening of the T1 domestic passenger terminal from midnight October 20.
Gofirst, AirAsia India, Water Star and Trujet will continue all their domestic operations from Terminal 1 from October 20 midnight, private airport operators said in the release.
However, flight chooses Indigo will be continued from October 31 with most flights operating from T2 and basis flights will operate outside the terminal 1, he added.
Mumbai Airport Authority has suspended flight services from T1 in mid-April after the two deadly pandemic waves hit the country and moved all operations to T2, which are mostly used for international connectivity.
With a national vaccination drive and increased passenger trust on air travel, CSMIA reopens Terminal 1 for domestic flight operations, starting October 20, private airport operators said in a statement.
Terminal 1 will meet around 156 flights every day, while around 396 flights will be operated from terminal 2, he said.
During the first wave of pandemic too, the service from T1 was still suspended for almost seven months.
At that moment, all operations were carried out from T2.
Resurrection of service through T1 from October 20 will help maintain social distance steps, uphold passenger safety, and ensure smooth transit, CSMIA said in the statement.
It is said that all transportation modes to and from the airport will be available for the convenience of the passengers, as before.
CSMIA’s T1 will host 12 registration tables and 12 testing booths throughout the arrival and departure where passengers can choose to undergo a RT-PCR test at the airport, said the statement.
