Karachi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has enabled countries participating in the upcoming T20 World Cup to bring 15 players and eight officials for the tournament in the UAE.
Pakistani cricket board officials (PCB) confirmed on Friday that the ICC has set September 10 as a deadline for participating countries to submit their last 15 officials and eight officials, including coaches and their support staff.
“The ICC also allows all participating countries to bring additional players with their troops because of the Covid-19 situation and bio-safe bubbles but the board concerned must bear the costs of these additional players,” he told PTI.
“The ICC bear costs only 15 players and eight officials.
‘The T20 World Cup, the first since 2016, will be held from October 17 to November 14 in Oman and three places in the UAE – Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
The eight-country qualifying tournament includes Bangladesh , Sri Lanka and Ireland will be played until September 23 in Oman and one place in the UAE.
Four teams will be eligible for the Super-12 stage which starts from September 24 in the UAE.
“Now get to the board to decide how many additional players they want.
Have with the main team they remember the Covid-19 situation because if there is a positive player test or they are a problem of injury, the team can take the replacement of their additional players.
“The ICC has told the board that they could make the last change in their troops up to five days before the quarantine period for the team began.” But the board had to send their team on September 10.
“The tournament is scheduled to be held in India but because of the situation covid- 19, ICC moves it to the UAE.
