Nagpur: Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) has imposed a single plastic ban (soup) and has warned action if anyone found using it.
Forest Conservator (CF) and Field Director Jitendra Ramagaonkar said, “Soup, also referred to as disposable plastic, is generally used for packaging and includes items intended only to be used once before they are discarded or recycled.” Many villagers and people who visit Tadoba use shopping bags, food packaging, bottles, straws, containers, cups, and tableware.
“Plastics turn into a big threat, pose a serious threat for not only the environment but also animals,” Ramagaonkar said.
“We have appealed to all visitors, residents, resort owners, and tourists to stop using soup, failed action that will be taken in accordance with the legal provisions,” he added.
According to the action, the use of soup and polluting them in public places near the park can invite RS500-25,000 penalty.
Park management has appealed to people to use steel bottles or good quality plastic bottles for drinking water, and to stop carrying snacks and food in plastic in the park.
Deputy Director (Core) Nandkishore Kale said, “Even though tourists have been sensitive for years, the actual threat comes from visitors to the days of the Butterfly Park in Agajari, and people visit the resort to dine from Jalan Padmapur-Mohurli.
” “We hope to be able to apply a strict ban from October 1, when the tourist season starts.
We have installed automatic water vending machines in Kolara and Gates Mohuril.
In addition, the water cooler is being installed at the gate that does not have this facility.
This will prevent tourists To carry a bottle of plastic water packed in it.
They can carry a bottle of steel water, “Kale said.
Naturalist Himanshu Bagde welcomed the displacement, declaring threats needed to be examined in small restaurants near the tourism gate and Kiosks of Paan.
“Most resort owners offer ice fat to their visitors during safari.
The water machine can stop using bottles,” he said.
However, Nikhil Abhyankar, a resort owner of Tadoba said, “Although the ban has been put in place, the results will be seen after October when full tourism starts.
At present, most tourists visit the buffer zone for the weekend.” Abhyankar called it a good decision.
In January this year, the child of the Subadult Tiger was seen chewing a plastic bottle in the Alizanza tourism zone in the buffer.
