Bengaluru: Fear that children will be the most vulnerable during the third wave Covid-19 has not really turned out to be true, if inpatient data in the city is an indication.
BBMP data for the last 10 days was accessed by TII showed that they were in the age group 0-18 contributing 129 or 6% of 2,190 people treated at the hospital after the Covid-19 contract.
People over 60 accounted for 1.038 or almost half of hospitalization for the past 10 days.
While 832 elders were accepted at a private hospital, 206 underwent treatment in the government.
BBMP Health Officials claim children have better immunity, so as separated from the spread of the community, most remain unaffected, while some who contracted the virus recovered faster.
During contact contacts, officials knew that children spin positive for three reasons – social gathering, travel and family spread.
“Many families tested positively rather symptoms and prefer home insulation.
In such cases, children also positive positive.
But because their immunity is good, the opportunity for inpatient is very little,” said Dr.
Bhaskar Rajakumar, Nodal officer, the BBMP war room .
“Children show the first cold symptoms, followed by throat and itchy fever.
While fever decreases in a day, cold takes a minimum of 4-5 days to go down,” he added.
“Immunity among children in the age group 6-14 is still developing.
Even though they are infected, they recover faster.
Because of lack of vaccination, the chances of infection among children up, but not much need to worry about,” said Dr.
Ravishankar Marpalli , Pediatrician, Sparsh Rajarajeshwari.
Dr.
As a Balaasundar, Chief Health Officer (BBMP), said senior residents were accepted because of comorbidity.
“Liver disease, hypertension and diabetes, among others, instilled panic among the elders,” he said.
On hospitalization among children, he said: “Most of the panic among parents leading to children’s acceptance.
After the appropriate behavior of Covid is the only way to avoid positive testing.”
