Gorakhpur: In a strange decision, a village of Panchayat in the Maharajanj district just asked a little girl to resolve the rape case for Rs 50,000 and five sandals slapped the charges.
However, the girl’s family refused to accept the decision and contacted the police, after that the persecution case was submitted.
When Pancayat’s decision became a viral on social media, SP Maharajanjjanjang on Tuesday directed the police to record the girl’s statement under the 164 part of the CRPC and received it medically checked.
The report said that on June 23, the girl’s mother, residents of the locality under the jurisdiction of the Kothibhar police station, filed a complaint to the village of Panchayat that their little daughter was raped by a village youth.
Acting on the complaint, Panchayat asked the girl to take Rs 50,000 from the defendant and slap him five times with sandals in front of Panchayat members to resolve the problem.
However, the girl’s family refused to accept the decision and contact Kothibhari police on June 24.
In family complaints, a FIR was submitted under the IPC of the persecution and Pocso Law against the defendant.
The family then made a Viral Panchayat decision on social media, after Maharajanj SP Pradeep Gupta on Tuesday aimed the police to get a medically checked girl and recorded his statement under the part 164 CRPC.
“If rape is reported in a medical test, a case will be listed under the section and related actions will be taken,” Gupta told TI on Tuesday.
