Take safety steps in Ganga Ghats for Chhath: Nitish

Patna: Cm Nitish Kumar on Wednesday checking different Ghats on the banks of the South Gangga River in the next center Chhath ‘Mahaparv’.
He asked officials to ensure cleanliness and security for worshipers at all Ghats.
Riding a ship, Nitish started from Gandhi Ghat and went to Kangan Ghat at Patna City.
He also checked Chhath Ghats to Nasriganj in the Danapur area.
He asked officials to make all the necessary arrangements in the river islands so that the people did not face difficulties in reaching there and offering ‘Arghya’ to God the Sun.
CM said the ‘Peepa’ bridge was being built near Ghat Collectorate and Mahendru Ghat to ensure a smooth approach to the nearest river islands.
He asked officials to find out the possibility of building other ‘PEEPA’ bridges near the prohibition of Ghat for a smooth approach to the nearest island.
There are around 80 Ghats between Nasriganj and Diagged where Lakh worshipers gather to offer ‘Arghya’ to Sun God and do other rituals for four days ‘Mahaparv’.
This year, the Chhath ritual will begin on November 8 with ‘Nahay-Khay’ and end on November 11 with ‘Arghya’ to the sunrise in the morning.
Last year, Chhath Puja could not be organized on the edge of the Ganges in a big way due to restrictions related to Covid.
But this year, the state government has raised that limit.
“This year, the ganga water level is high due to heavy rainfall in the upper water catchment area.
In such a scenario, there is a need for the right security in all Chhath Ghats,” Nitish told reporters after the Ghats inspection.
He said officials and engineers were asked to choose the location of Chhath Ghats remembering the flow of water and his depth.
CM said officials had also been asked to ensure the right barricades along the river near Ghats for the safety of worshipers.
Nitish said he would return to check Chhath Ghats on November 3 to take stock preparations.
Deputy CM Tarkishore Prasad, Secretary of CM Deepak Kumar, Head of Secretary of Tripurari Sharan, Commissioner of Development Amir Subhani, DGP S K Singhal, Additional Secretary of Head Pratyaya Amrit and several senior officials accompany CM during the Ghats examination.
