Taliban continued passport service for Afghanistan

Kabul: Taliban on Tuesday continued passport service for Afghanistan.
The Interior Ministry said that for now, a new passport will be issued with the title “Afghan Islamic Republic,” reported Tolo news.
Saeed Khosti, Head of the Ministry of Home Affairs Ministry, at a press conference said that for now, new passports will be issued with their previous title – the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
Khosti added that all women’s employees from the passport department had been asked to return to their work.
In accordance with the Taliban at least 25,000 passports are ready to be issued from the start.
The department’s acting head, Alim Gul Haqqani, who emerged at a press conference in his office, said their services had also been continued in the province, reported Tolo news.
According to department officials, in almost the past two months, at least 170,000 people have submitted an application to get a passport.
Officials also said they had sufficient passport booklet and there would be no need to print a new passport for the next eight months, reported Tolo news.
Passport services for Afghanistan were stopped after the previous government’s fall (Islamic Republic of Afghanistan) on August 15.
