Berlin: Taliban fighters in Afghanistan have shot and killed relatives of a journalist Welle Deutsche while hunting for him, said German public broadcasters.
Militants held a home-to-home search for journalists, who now work in Germany, DW said Thursday.
The second relative was seriously injured but the others could escape, he said, without giving the details of the incident.
DW Director General Peter Limbourg condemned the murder, which he said showed dangers for media workers and their families in Afghanistan.
“The murder of a close relative of one of our editors by Taliban yesterday was unimaginable tragic, and testified with acute danger where all our employees and their families in Afghanistan found themselves,” he said.
“It is clear that the Taliban have conducted an organized search for journalists, both in Kabul and in the province.
We run out of time!” The Taliban has stormed at least three other DW journalists, said the announcer.
DW and other German media organizations have asked the German government to take fast action to help their Afghan staff.
After consuming Kabul, the Taliban launched the Blitz Public Relationship promises freedom and forgiveness media for all their opponents.
However, the Secret UN document seen by AFP said they intensified their search for people who worked with US and NATO forces.
