Kandahar: The Taliban said Monday at least four operators of the Islamic State and two civilians were killed in the crackdown in the group hiding place in South Afghanistan after an increase in bloody attacks recently.
Operation of the Islamic State – Local Chapter of the Jihad Group – began around midnight at least four provincial districts of Kandahar and continued until Monday morning, Taliban Provincial Chief Abdul Ghafar Mohammadi Province told AFP.
“So far, four Daesh (IS) fighters have been killed and ten were arrested …
one of them blew him into the house,” he said.
A Taliban official then tweeted that three were killed operators and two civilians “Martyred” in the operation.
There is no explanation for disparity.
Local media quoted a Taliban official who said there was also an explosion on the western outskirts of Kabul Monday morning without victims.
In three months since the ruling Taliban, IS-K has been active in Jalalabad, Kunduz, Kandahar and Kabul.
Last month the group claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing on the Shiite Mosque in Kandahar which killed at least 60 people and more injured.
The attack came a week after the deadly mosque explosion claimed by Is-K in North Kunduz Province killed more than 60 people.
The group on Sunday claims responsibility for bombs that destroyed minibuses in Kabul on weekends of killing famous local journalists and up to two.
Is-k bragging it has killed or injured “20 Shiites” in the incident.
Earlier this month the fighters raided the city national military hospital, killing at least 19 people and injured more than 50 others.
The group has also claimed several attacks in the city of Jalalabad, the capital of East Nangarhar Province and the nest of IS-K.
