Islamabad: Taliban Ovorran Ghazni on Thursday, making it on the 10th 34 capital of Afghan Province falls in less than a week.
Rebels are now within 90 miles of Kabul, the country’s capital, and controlling almost one third of Afghanistan.
The fall of Ghazni, the capital of his eponymeter province, meant that the Taliban now control the most important highway that connects Kabul to the south of the country.
This also means they have effectively disconnected President Ashraf Ghani to the provinces such as Kandahar, Helmand and Farah.
The extensive battle has been around Ghazni for days.
Ghazni, an ancient city, was the Mahmud Ghazni seat, the first of the Turkish Mamluk Ghaznavid and the conqueror was said by some historians to invade India 17 times, and had looted Somnath’s temple at 1025 CE.
Speaking to the media, Ghazni Provincial Board members said that the Taliban had taken most of the city, including the governor’s compound, while Afghan forces are currently controlling the police in the suburbs.
While Afghan President Ashraf Ghani flew to the northern cities, such as Mazar-e-Sharif to seek help from the commander of the war, The Taliban March to surround the capital being taking steps per hour.
The country’s interior ministry, meanwhile, said the Afghani police had arrested Ghazni Governor Mohammad Dawood Laghmani and his representatives in Midan Wardak Province, South Kabul, after they escaped from provincial capital.
In southern Afghanistan, the rebels, who surrounded Kandahar for weeks, claimed they had taken control of prison and released more than 1,000 inmates.
While the Afghan government has not confirmed the takeover of the prison, militant groups have shared videos that show the detainees running outside the prison.
In Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand Province in the south, militants have taken over the regional police headquarters.
According to government sources, several police officers surrendered while others resigned to the nearest governor’s office which was still controlled by Afghan forces.
Fight between the Taliban and government forces have been going on for weeks in Lashkar Gah.
While the Taliban took control of the north, west and south of the country, and may soon be starting to march in Kabul, the national capital, the inability of co-trained and equipped defense forces to reclaim the lost land was worried about their supporters in the West.
Reminding the efforts of the American government Afghanistan, US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday: “We spend more than 20 more than 20 years.
We train and be equipped with more than 300,000 Afghan troops must be united.
They have to fight for themselves , fight for their nation.
