Talking Points: Is an inspection in hybrid mode that does not offer the field of playing levels

Covid-19 has brought some changes in how educational institutions used to offer educational and behavioral exams

No non-uniformity
Pandemic Covid-19 has motivated the development of new modus operandi in the education sector.
From a typical way of doing regular classes for exams, everything has moved online.
Now with some relaxation, it has further moved to a hybrid model that raises concerns to academic ethics.
On the one hand, allowing students to discuss directly with their teacher, while on the other hand, it seems to offer challenges with relative value compared to online students.
With the development of sophisticated ICT tools seen in the era of online education that is entirely online, the hybrid model does offer a field of playing levels.

There is no real assessment
When Corona caused unprecedented disturbances in the education sector, online or hybrid delivery mode in education and examinations came to temporary relief.
However, the examination in hybrid mode does not allow the field of playing rational levels.
Problems that cannot be avoided such as power outages, uneven and irregular internet bandwidth, network disorders, etc., cause real problems where students do not have control.
In addition, another big problem is the difference in the efficiency of the device e.g.
Some laptops can be very fast, while some are relatively slow.
Examination is intended to assess students’ understanding and knowledge, such problems troublesome and defeat the objective of a fair assessment.

Must be uniform
To ensure better parity among students, universities, or educational institutions must follow one inspection mode.
Examining in hybrid mode may not provide a fair assessment of academic capabilities.
In addition, the availability of devices, internet connectivity, and power outages is another field of concern that needs to be remembered.
It’s better to follow a test mode when the examination goals are to facilitate a fair assessment.
– Umrao Singh, Associate Professor, Punjabi University, Patiala
The test method should not be too important in Hybrid mode offering all students a fair opportunity to be evaluated.
There are several creative ways to assess what students have learned during the semester.
To do the exam, they chose the exam home, project work, and the tasks of pacing besides quizzes, etc.
During the test objectives are for students’ classes based on the knowledge obtained and their efforts to learn, their fashion exam should not matter.
