Udhagamandalam: Disaster Management Team in Nilgiris has identified 22 very important locations because they are often affected due to rain.
This district has a total vulnerable place.
Based on instructions from the government ahead of heavy rain, Supriya Sahu, the main secretary and Nilgiris district monitoring officers held a district level meeting with all officials in Ooty to discuss the disaster management program.
Supriya Sahu said that the team had been instructed to monitor these critical locations during the Northeast Monsun period.
“Until now, the sound situation in this district can be managed.
We are ready for any possibility because of the rainy season in the district.
Twenty-three static medical teams and 13 mobile medical teams are ready in the district.” He said 456 rescue camps were everywhere if people moved from the lowland area due to flooding.
Inventories such as machines are also ready if landslides.
“In addition, 42 zonal teams consisting of 3,025 officials from income, highways, and PWD departments have been formed as part of the disaster management program,” said Sahu.
All 15 reservoirs in the district are being monitored strictly.
