CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin on Saturday announced evaluation criteria to compute the marks for Class XII students following the cancellation of board exams.
The exams were cancelled due to the second wave of Covid-19.
The Class X board exams would carry 50% weightage while Class XI marks would carry 20% weightage and Class XII internal assessment and practical exams would carry 30% weightage, a release from the state government said.
The evaluation criteria were announced based on the report submitted by a 10-member committee.
The Class XII results would be announced before July 31 as ordered by the Supreme Court, the release further said.

The exams would be conducted if the environment is conducive in the backdrop of the ongoingThe release also announced that the state board would give an opportunity for students who are aggrieved with the marks to write the exam and the scores in the written test would be considered as final marks.
The board would also conduct a separate exam for private candidates after Covid-19 cases subside.
The average of the best of three marks in Class X board exam would be taken for giving weightage.
The state board schools had completed the practical exams for Class XII students before April.
The Class XII practical exam marks (20 marks) and internal assessment (10 marks ) will be calculated for 30 marks.
If the subject doesn’t have practical exams, then the internal assessment marks will be converted into 30 marks.
Further, if the students could not take part in Class XII practical exams due to Covid-19, their Class XI marks will be used for tabulation.
If students could not attend both Class XI and XII practical exams, their practical marks would be calculated based on Class X theory exam marks.
Students who did not take part in theory exam, internal assessment and practical exam in Class XI and XII would be considered as private candidates, the release added.
CBSE Class XII evaluation criteria give 30% weightage to Class X board exams and 30% weightage to Class XI annual exams.
The CBSE criteria give 40% weightage to unit tests, mid-term tests and pre-board exams conducted in Class XII.
The practical and internal assessment test marks will be the same marks as uploaded by the schools.
