Tamil Nadu: Appeal to allow physical classes for first year students

Chennai: With a school set to reopen completely from class I to XII from November 1, some of the Arts and Science colleges have asked the state government to enable them to do physical classes to prepare them for undergraduate courses.

The Collegiate Education Directorate on Thursday asked all the arts and science colleges to start the class for first year students by following the standard operating procedure from October 4.
SOP issued by the Ministry of Higher Education Directing Universities to conduct an online orientation program for a week for students first year.
One reason for asking for college to do an online class is that first year students are under 18 years old and do not qualify for vaccination.
Safe! You have managed to throw your voteogin to see college results that have started the orientation program for first year old students online and regular classes will start next week.
When physical classes are being carried out for school students who are not vaccinated, universities have urged the government to enable them to do physical classes for first year students.
“First year students have studied most class XII lessons online.
If these students do not attend bridge courses in physical mode, they will struggle to understand the basic concepts,” said Paul Wilson, Principal of Madras Christian College.
Principal Nanak Teacher Mg Ragunathan said the university was planning a physical class for first year students based on SOP.
“We have a large campus and according to SOP, we can do physical classes.
When all school students return to physical classes, colleges must also be allowed to do physical classes for all students,” he said.
“We always want a physical fashion class.
The only worries we are a pandemic situation …
We will follow the SOP,” said S Santhosh Baboo, Principal of Dg Vaishnav College.
Tamil Nadu Nadu Teacher College of College T Veeramani said teaching in class alone would be effective for students.
“The government must consider to vaccinate first year students and allow them to attend physical classes,” he said.
