Tamil Nadu BJP canceled the event January 12 ‘Modi Pongal’

MADURAI / PUDUCHERRY: BJP has canceled the ‘Modi Pongal’ event planned in Madurai on January 12, considering the new Covid-19 limitations announced by the state government.
Party President K Annamalai told reporters in Madurai that as their party was also responsible for the safety of the people and therefore adhering to the rules of the state government.
Prime Minister participation Narendra Modi in an event in Virudhunagar, where he is scheduled to inaugurate medical colleges, will be decided by the state government, Annamalai told reporters.
Meanwhile, the former Puducherry CM leader and Senior Congress V Narayanasamy urged the center and the Puducherry government to postpone the national youth festival scheduled for January 12 to 16 in UT.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate a five-day festival as announced by Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Sounderrajan on Tuesday.
Citing a sudden surge in the number of Covid-19 cases after the New Year celebration in Puducherry, Narayanamy urged Minister of N Rangasamy to write to Modi who asked him not to visit Puduchhery to inaugurate the Festival and urged the United States to delay.
Narayanasamy insisted that the AINRC-BJP government also imposed limitation and locking measures in the union area similar to imposed by the Tamil Nadu government.
