Chennai: DMK who ruled on Tuesday named Kanimozhi NVN Somu and Krn Rajeshkumar as a candidate for two empty chairs of Sabha from Tamil Nadu.
The Election Commission of the Indian Election (ECI) has announced a schedule for two “casual” vacancies in Rajya Sabha and the election will be held on October 4, 2021.
The two seats fell after the resignation of two members of AIDMK – R Vaithililam and KP Munusamy.
Senior AIADMK leaders, who are also the Deputy Party Coordinator, have resigned on May 7, after being elected a Tamil Nadu assembly in the recent election held on April 6.
The names of two DMK candidates were announced by the MK Stalin Party President.

The term Munusamy will end in April, 2026.
Kanimozhi Somu, a doctor, is the daughter of the Minister of Union Late and former DMK Lok Sabha MP from the North Chennai NVN SOMU.
He is the secretary of the party medical wing.
Kanimozhi was previously not successfully contested as a candidate for DMK from Nagar in the 2016 Assembly Election.
Rajeshkumar is a DMK responsible for the East Namakkal district of the party.
