Tamil Nadu: Certificate of Tet for Life for 60,000 Teachers

Chennai: About 60,000 teacher feasibility teachers (TET) qualified teachers in Tamil Nadu whose certificate ends in September will receive a new validity of a lifetime.
In a recent circle, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has directed all state governments to change the TET certificate with a retrospective effect on February 11, 2011.
NCTE previously decided to provide a lifetime validity for certificates, instead of seven years, delayed legal opinion.
In the 50th public meeting in June, the Board decided to implement the decision.
“Because this provision will have a retrospective effect on the date of enforcement of Tet Guidelines, namely from 11.02.2011, the country concerned is to take the necessary actions to validate or issue fresh tet certificates to candidates passing for seven years.,” Yangzom sherba seizures , NCTE members say in a circle.
The decision to bring relief to around one candidate who fulfills the tet requirements in the state as the percentage of the previous TET pass is only 0.2%.
If the validity expires, they have to pass Tet again to be eligible to be appointed as a secondary teacher and graduate teacher from class I to VIII.
“Providing a lifelong validity with a retrospective effect will benefit at least 60,000 teachers who have qualified in Tet in 2013 and do not get government work.
The validity of their certificates will expire in September 2021 (seven years from the date of issuance).
Furthermore, around 40,000 teachers qualified In Tet in 2017 and 2019 and no one was recruited.
Validity of a lifetime will help these teachers continue to work in schools until they get government work, “said M Elangovan, state coordinator, 2013, 2013 welfare association.
Lifetime validity will be meaningful only if the Tamil Nadu government relaxes the age limit – 40 years for OC and 45 years for other categories – to recruit teachers, he said.
“In the past six years, there has been no recruitment of middle-class teachers and by improving their age limit eliminating a large number of qualified candidates,” he added.
The President of the Tamil Nadu Teacher Association P K Ilandaran also demanded the age limit deleted.
