Tamil Nadu CM Stalin urged Govt Union to attract the amendment proposed to the Cinematographic Law

Chennai: Against the background of the representation of the Tamil film industry, Minister M K Stalin’s head on Tuesday urged the United States to withdraw the amendment proposed to the Cinematograph, 1952, and enabled functional autonomy of the central council certification.
In a letter to union information and the Minister of Prakash Javadekar Broadcasting and Law and Justice, Communication, Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ravishankar Prasad, said Minister of Chief, “Draft Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2021, has caused serious concerns not only in the minds of the film brotherhood and the film industry but also among all intended parts of the community who appreciate freedom of expression.
“Amendments to try to restore the revision of the government’s revision of the United States of the Supreme Court two decades ago.
If a film is certified to be public seen by the CBFC, it will fall in the domain of the state government, and therefore, it must be submitted to countries as laws and order is the subject of the country.
“But now, the trade union government, with the proposed action, tries to conflict with the spirit of cooperative federalism and exceed the strength of the state and its own CBFC,” CM said.
He also tried to remember the demolition of the film certification appellate board, which functions as an appeal against CBFC.
The Main Minister said the draft amendment restored “revision power” to the center after being certified was the misuse of the “fair restrictions” based on Article 19 (2) Constitution and the draft amendment against the spirit of promoting legitimate thinking in civil society.
“Curry creative thinking from the brotherhood of the film and imposing conditions on them about how movies must be made truly cannot be justified and in fact, quite contrary to the ideals of our constitution.
Taking the right to freedom of thought will only weaken our democracy, which must be raised Always regardless of the parties in power, “CM said.
There are certain provisions that have practical difficulties in implementation such as wise certification groupings based on three specific categories and amendments that have made “films make a very risky and uncertain industrial” such as provisions that allow the United States to direct the CBFC chair to re-examine a film after certification , said Stalin, added that it was considered excessive to add more laws and acted to inhibit the freedom of the creative form in the 21st century, “Stalin said.
