Tamil Nadu: Cop hacked to death in Trichy

Trichy: Police special sub-inspectors attached to the Navalpattu police station in the trichy district were hacked to death by two men early on Sunday.
The incident occurred when SSI Boominathan, 50, on the task of patrolling, chasing the two men traveling on motorbikes with a goat, police said.
Boominathan, along with another police, was patrolling at 2:30 a.m.
on Sunday when he saw two unidentified men on a motorcycle carrying a goat.
Suspecting that they might be a goat thief, Boominathan tried to intercept them.
But they did not stop and escape.
Boominathan began to pursue them in his bicycle while other police followed him in two-wheeled vehicles.
The gang is heading towards keberur at Trichy-Pulajottai Road.
When they approached the village of Palathupatti near the Kalamavur train gate near the Karnanur in the Pudukottai district, Boominathan caught the two men on a bicycle with a goat.
They suddenly attacked boominathan with sharp weapons and escaped from the scene.
SSI suffered a deep wound on his head and died instantly.
When his colleagues reached the place, Boominathan had died of an injury, police said.
Extending condolences, Minister M K Stalin announced the assistance of RS 1 Crore to a grieving family and convincing government work to one of the family members.
Trichy Central Zone digging Saravana Sundar told the Toi that the two men attacked special sub-inspectors.
The police ridden by Boominathan had reached a few minutes of late, said excavation.
“Further investigation into medium and four specialized police teams have been formed by DSP to arrest the perpetrators,” Digi said.
